WYS Hand-Knitted Jumper made by Chloe

WYS Knitted Croft Jumper, made by Chloe

Don't you think Handmade Gifts, especially Knitted are the most beautiful and precious gifts to receive? Knitted Gifts are completely unique, made with a lot of love, time and effort. But it gets better, handmade gifts are also long-lasting and treasured for a very long time!

Chloe has been busy over the last couple of months, making this brilliant knitted jumper for a birthday present. The jumper is made using our West Yorkshire Spinners Croft Yarn, shade Luna 795 and the pattern used was from our Croft Shetland Tweed Pattern Book by Sarah Hatton.

Chloe has been knitting for a few years and has been loving expanding her skill set when it comes to Knitting, Crochet and Sewing.

"Because I have been knitting for a long time, I found this project fairly easy. Overall, it took me around 2 months to complete the Jumper, doing a little bit every night. The wool was great to work with, because it is 100% wool so is a lot nicer to touch. I find acrylic yarn a little bit rougher and not as easy to work with.

After finishing each piece, I soaked them in lukewarm water for around 20 minutes - you can leave this for longer. Doing this softens the knitting and the stitches look more flat and professional, especially when you are doing cable knit. After doing this, I lay the pieces flat on a towel, ringing each piece out (but make sure not to twist as you ring). By wetting the pieces, it allowed me to adjust to the required measurements - this is called blocking.

I really enjoyed making this jumper, it was the first time making a mens 'proper' jumper so was something different."
