Dressmaking Made Easy - Lazy Day Dungas

Fancy giving dressmaking a go but not sure where to start?

Two of our ladies, Anne and Chloe, teamed up to make these beautiful Lazy Day Dungas, designed by @stitchedinwonderlandofficial.

We thought our Ochre Floral & Butterflies Cotton Fabric was the perfect choice, matched with some of our Rainbow Craft Gold Fabric for the pockets and straps.

Following a dressmaking pattern can sometimes seem daunting... Well we are here to give you the confidence you need to get infront of your sewing machine!

We stumbled across Stitched in Wonderland a few months ago thanks to one of our customers @katyysews. Katy made a beautiful Pinnafore Dress and the Lazy Day Dungas using some of our Fabrics. We were so impressed by the patterns created by Alice (founder of SIW) that we had to give them a go.

The patterns created are super modern and most importantly really easy to follow. Not only that, but the company encourage their customers to focus on measurements rather than arbitary numbers - that's why their sizes range from A - K and list a full range of measurements (How amazing!)

Each pattern made by Alice is rigorously tested by a select group of pattern testers in every size, before release. This is to make sure that every pattern is of the highest quality - we can vouch for this!

For these Dungas, Chloe used 2.5 metres of our Ochre Floral & Butterflies Fabric and 1/2 a metre of Rainbow Craft Gold Fabric for the pockets and front panel - Not bad hey?

Following the pattern step by step, the Dungas were made in under 2 days for less than £35!

The benefits of dressmaking are endless; the sense of achievement that comes with creating your own garment and using your own choice of fabric is probably the most exciting part.

If you have made your own garments before, you probably know that we have a  different relationship with clothes that have been handmade by ourselves; the garments have a lot more value and therefore become less disposable.

Don't forget to step out of your sewing comfort zones, you never know you might surprise yourself?

If you fancy making the Dungarees, make sure to check out Stitched In Wonderlands Website. You'll receive a 10% discount code to spend with us if you purchase one of their patterns too!

See you next time,
